November is Here! Let Us Be Thankful!
Thanks for all of the support you all have gave during the Boosterthon! Please send in your pledges anytime this week! Make sure Mrs. Barnett's name is on it, as well as your child's name.
A letter was sent home recently asking parents to send in veterans they know of and I would get them a scroll to display on the wall that is honoring veterans at school. The wall will be up through the end of November. Please let me know ASAP and I will send you the scrolls to fill out! Thanks for your supporting our efforts to honor these very important citizens!
Please join us on November 18th at 12:45- 1:45 in our classroom as we share Turkey Tales that we have created! Thanksgiving lunch is also on this day at 12:00-12:45, so please plan to join your child for a meal as well! We look forward to seeing you next week!
On November 19 our lunch time will be 11:24-11:54.
Thanksgiving Holidays are November 23-27. Have a wonderful time with family and friends. We have so much to be thankful for.....I am thankful for my wonderful class and supportive parents. Thank you for sharing you children with me this year!

Nearly November
Fall is in the air! Thanks for the donations towards the Science Lab. The kids have really enjoyed the guys coming everyday to visit, and share character words with them, as well as cheering them on for getting pledges! The Fun Run will be Thursday, Oct. 29th at 12:45-1:55. Please feel free to come out and support our class as they take the challenge laps. We will meet on the lower field.
Thanks for all the support for Red Ribbon Week! Thanks to Mrs. Kalinowski for helping with the door. It looks great!

A Few Reminders and Updates

Be looking Monday for a "Let's Talk" phone conference form with a date and time. These conferences will begin the week of the 19th. Please respond back ASAP, so I can make out the schedule for the week. Thanks ahead for taking time to talk!
Oct. 21- First Early Release....Children will be dismissed at 12:10. They will have lunch and specials on this day.

Happy October!
Hope everyone is having a good week. We got a little behind last week with the days off, but are making up for it this week!
Thanks to all of the parents that are coming in next week to help kids with counting change. I sent out an e-mail, so refer to it for questions. I will send the final schedule out by Friday. (Oct. 7th and 8th) This is such an important life skill and will be useful as the children get older.
The first book report is due on Oct. 30. The information and book should be in your child's hands. I expect these reports to be neat and your best handwriting. If you need drawing paper you will need to ask in class.
Get ready for the Book Fair! This will be housed in our media center from Oct. 5-9. Plan to come by and visit this week!

A Busy Week at Ford
We have been testing at Ford since last Wednesday, Sept. 9th. Our last test was taken today, Sept. 18th. We plan to be back on the normal schedule next week! Thanks for all of the snacks and drinks and treats sent in to have after testing. The kids really enjoyed everything...including the teacher!

We have our first Cato visit on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The earth parents are welcome to come to our room and visit. Our visit will be from 11:50-12:50.
Scholastic Book Fair is Oct. 5-9. Mark you calendars and plan to come with your child after school and visit. We will visit as a class this week as well.
Progress Reports went home today if your child has a 1 in any subject area. If you do not receive one, your child is at the moment receiveing 2's or 3's. I will contact you if I have concerns at this time. Report cards will go home on Oct.16th.
We will plan a visit to Tellus Science Museum in March. Infomation will go home later.

Four Weeks Down!
Many thanks to those who were able to come to Open House on Thursday. We missed those who were not able to come! I sent home a packet today with your child of a few things we went over at Open House, if you were unable to attend. Please let me know if you have any questions.
*We have testing on Wed. Thurs. and Fri. of next week. Please make sure your child eats a good breakfast and gets plenty of rest. We will not have snacks until after testing. Thanks to those who will be bringing in items. Please refer to you schedule to see what day you have been assigned.
We have Media Center on Tuesday of next week. I will be assigning book reports after testing. (near the end of Sept.)
Our specials will change on testing days...from 12:30-1:15. Lunch will be the same.
Cato Permission slips were sent home yesterday. Please get that permission returned when you get a chance. We will plan to go to the Tellus Museum in March. We had a unanimous vote of the ones here at open house to proceed with this trip. The other third grade classes also agreed.
I will send out a blog next week about more specific dates coming up. Thanks again to Mrs. Dennis who made the class information sheet for us. Everyone should have a copy. Also, a special thanks to Mrs. Kalinowski for organizing the schedule of Mystery Reader and Helpers. Contact her if you want to be added to the list.

Welcome to Third Grade!
Hope everyone is having a great week! I will be updating the Blog weekly. Please have your child check weekly for news in the classroom and special reminders. I usually will have it updated by Thursday. Homework and spelling words will continue to be written in the agenda. Please check this each night and sign or initial. Also, papers will come home each Thursday. Please sign those and send back. I will place a big red check when I have seen your signature and send the papers back. The papers should be sent back by the next Thursday. I appreciate your help with this.

Welocome March!
Upcoming Events and News From Our Class
*Thanks for supporting our annual Book Fair! I think it was a big success!
* Don't forget to log your reading minutes for the last Book It Due the end of this month, Mar. 31.
* Thanks to all who were able to get to the Talent Show and for those who participated! I was unable to attend because of family obligations, but heard it was great fun!
* Our nest Book Report is Due: April 1st. This is a cube report with a handwritten part as well.
*We have had a wonderful art lesson from Mrs. Collier and Earth Lesson from Mrs. Hogan recently! We appreciate your time to teach our children! The Mystery Readers have also been fun! Thanks to the parents who have been able to come in and read to the kids on Friday!
*The Tellus Museum trip was exciting and fun for the kids. We visited the fossil area of the museum and learned a lot! The kids brought home rubbings, and real fossils they dug up at the museum! I think everyone brought home a souvenir from the museum! It was fun to see what they picked out!
*St Patrick's Day, March 17th we will be wearing green and writing in green all day! The kids can bring in a green snack to share with the class.
* Report Cards go home on March 19th.

*Don't Forget! Spring Break is April 6-10. Relax and enjoy time with family!
*We have started the Milkshake rotation over for the remainder of the year! We do need to think ahead for the summer. If anyone is interested in keeping Milkshake over the summer or for part of the break....Several families could share her...and then bring her back to the classroom in August! Let me know ASAP if you are interested!
*We are practicing the CRCT through the Buckle Down books I showed you all at conference. We will continue working through these books in March and April. The kids are doing well and asking lots of questions!
*Have a wonderful week and enjoy the pretty weather while it lasts! I can't wait for spring!!!!
*Thanks for supporting our annual Book Fair! I think it was a big success!
* Don't forget to log your reading minutes for the last Book It Due the end of this month, Mar. 31.
* Thanks to all who were able to get to the Talent Show and for those who participated! I was unable to attend because of family obligations, but heard it was great fun!
* Our nest Book Report is Due: April 1st. This is a cube report with a handwritten part as well.
*We have had a wonderful art lesson from Mrs. Collier and Earth Lesson from Mrs. Hogan recently! We appreciate your time to teach our children! The Mystery Readers have also been fun! Thanks to the parents who have been able to come in and read to the kids on Friday!
*The Tellus Museum trip was exciting and fun for the kids. We visited the fossil area of the museum and learned a lot! The kids brought home rubbings, and real fossils they dug up at the museum! I think everyone brought home a souvenir from the museum! It was fun to see what they picked out!
*St Patrick's Day, March 17th we will be wearing green and writing in green all day! The kids can bring in a green snack to share with the class.
* Report Cards go home on March 19th.

Happy Heart Month
We are almost half way through the month, but with the busy weeks and activities there is no doubt as to where the time goes! Boys and Girls, you have been working so hard in class and at home on projects. I'm so proud of each one of you and the efforts that have gone into these activities. Your Biography interviews and desk tops were amazing!!! We have two more book reports and one more poem to memorize. In reading we will do a few readers theater and assign parts. I know you will enjoy this!
Here are a few reminders for the remainder of the month......
* Curriculum Night is at Ford this Thursday, 6:30 with dinner before.
* Valentine Exchange on Friday, Feb. 13. Don't for get your friends and book buddies!
*Our next Science Lab is Feb. 20./ Recipe Presentations are due on the 20th, also!
*Six Hour Reading for Six Flags is due Feb. 20th. Don't forget to send in your paper with minutes and initial by parents. Also, Book It forms are due on Feb. 28th.
*Tellus Museum Field Trip is on Feb. 24th. We will leave at 9:00 and return around 1:30.
*Talent Show at Harrison HS on Feb. 26 at 6:00. Come out and support your classmates!

Welcome January
Happy New Year!
It was good to see all of the kids back at school last week! I can't believe we are already in the third nine weeks. Time is flying, but we are moving along and the great thing about this part of the year is we are into the routines of agenda, homework, and schedules.
Here are some things coming up, and as always if you have any questions
e-mail...that is the quickest way to get an immediate response or a note in the agenda!
Our first day of Science Lab will be January 14th. Mrs. Belmonte is ready to start teaching your kids! They had the orientation last Friday! The kids met her class pet, too!
No school on the Jan. 19.-Martin Luther King's Day
Inauguration of our New President is on Tues., Jan. 20/We will watch this at school.
Ford Dance at Allatoona HS from 6:00-8:00- Hope to see you there!
Conference Week- Jan- 26-29. Check your day and time and be prepared to hear great things! We will have early release during this entire week...12:15.
Kick off for Six Flags 6 Hour Reading was Monday, Jan. 12...this will go through Feb. 20. Please turn these in as soon as you complete the reading!
Book It forms will be available to kids at the end of each month until March. You are already reading, so take a minute to record it and you can have a free pizza each month.
Biography Report and Desk Top are Due: Feb. 6th. I think everyone has a book!

Next Early Release is February 4th- 12:15- This is Hat Day too!

Jump Rope For Heart will be Feb. 6th in the gym during your child's specials.
Valentine's Day is Feb 14th, which is a Saturday....We will celebrate in our room on Feb. 13., by exchanging valentines and having a light snack! We will also get with our Book Buddies on this day too!
