November is Nice

I can't believe we are already changing months! A big thanks for a great conference week! I enjoyed talking to each one of you and learning more about your child, while I shared information that I have collected over this first quarter. We have a lot to cover, but with the enthusiasm of this class, we will continue to progress forward.
A special thanks to Mrs. Mosier for the door decoration for Red Ribbon Week.

Welcome to the Month of October

I can't believe the weather is getting cooler and the pumpkins are coming out! Fall really is in the air!
**A very special thanks to Mrs. Haggard for organizing the Fall Festival and Science Night. We had a great turn out for both. I really appreciate the parents who gave of their time on these very special evenings. We had 11 kids come to Science Night...Wow! Way to Go Kids!
**We had great field trips Friday and Monday. They were very informative. I hope your kids came home and told you about their experiences.

September is Sailing Away

**Thanks for all who were able to come out for Open House. I sent home the items that were handed out that night with your child the next day. If you have any questions, let me know! Mrs. Haggard is our room mom and she has the lists for Mystery Reader and helpers in the classroom. E-mail her if you would like to sign up for anything.

*Sept. 23- Bingo Night at Ford- 6:00-8:00

*Sept. 27- FundRaiser Orders Due Today! Please Support Our School

*Sept. 29- Picture Retakes

*Sept. 30- Vulcan Field Trip...Leave at 9:15...Return at 1:30.

*Oct. 4th- Our Second Annual Science Night-6:00-8:00.

Testing will begin here at Ford on Oct. 5th. Please be punctual with attendance and eat a good breakfast. We will have a snack later in the morning.

We met our Book Buddies this past week and will meet again in October.

We have library visits planned weekly. Each child should have two books to read and one of the two should always be an AR book. We are making goals this week that will go through December.

Welcome to a New Year in Third Grade!

Here are a few things coming up in the classroom and reminders of happenings in our school....

*The class as a whole is doing well with filling out agendas and getting them signed each night. We have had a few forget homework or have worked on the wrong assignment. Our class will perfect this within the next few weeks. The first set of papers went home on Thursday. Please look over and return to school signed. They will be returned to you by the next Wednesday or before.
**Our class read the story Isla this week and enjoyed tasting various fruits from the islands. Thanks to Mrs. Haggard for donating this delicious treat. By the way Mrs. Haggard is our head room mom this year. She will be contacting you soon with a schedule for helping in the classroom. Thanks ahead for your time. You can sign up for Mystery Reader at Open House.
*Please send in the permission slips for Cato as soon as you can. It was on green paper and sent home last week. Thank you!

May is Moving On!

I can't believe the end of the year is right around the corner! It seems like we just started. It was a great night at Evening in the Garden and Art Sale. I enjoyed seeing your families and watching the children perform. Don't miss it next year if you were unable to attend this year. It really is a special evening.

It was good to see all of the Moms at "Muffins for Moms"! We missed you if you were unable to attend...but we certainly understand the business of the year.

Here are some dates to mark on your calendar for the remainder of the year....

May 12- Field Day- 9:00-12:00-Wear color voted on in class....shorts and old tennis shoes.

May 17- Computer

May 24-25-Early Release- 1:30

**Mrs. Lundeberg will get with the parents about the end of the year celebration. It will probably be on May 23rd. Check e-mail.

April is Awesome and ...Will Be Gone Before We Can Pick the Flowers!

Hope everyone had a nice spring break! It was nice to have the time off and relax some family. Make a note of the following dates for April.

Spring Fling is Saturday, April 16th from 4:00-8:00...Hope to see you there! Last CRCT Test will be April !8th. The results will be back around the first week of May. Volunteer Tea for Parents- 9:oo-10:30...Please plan to come by and enjoy a snack and beverage. We are so thankful for your help all year long! Evening in the Garden- May 2 Mother's Day Tea- May 5th-In our classroom at 9:00. Invitations will be sent out this week. Field Day is May 12 Thanks for checking out the blog! Maginficent March is Moving On

Here are some dates to remember in the month of March!

Book Fair is under way! It officially will open on Monday, March 7th, and continue through March 11th. It will be open daily from 7:30-3:30, and on Friday until 12:00. It will be open on Curriculum Night from 6:00-7:30. Please come by and check it out!

Curriculum Night will take place on Thursday, March 10th from 6:30-7;30. Science Fair Winners will be announced between 6:00 and 6:30.

We will be working on a map project in class duing the week of March 14th. Mrs. Lundeberg will be contacting you to send in some items.

March 17th- St. Patrick's Day...Wear Green! We will have a green snack on this day!

Cato Field Trip- March 22nd. Leave at 9:00 and Return at 1:30.

Report Cards will be sent home on March 24th.

Spring Fling is March 26th at Ford.

Spring Break is April 4-8. Wow, it seems like we were just off!

CRCT Testing will begin on April 12th and end on April 15th.

We want to wish Cricket and her family well wishes as they move from the area and begin a new school in Acworth. We will miss you, Cricket!

Fabulous February is Here!

It is hard to believe January is already over! 2011 is moving along!
Here are some upcoming events and special dates. Please read over and let me know if you have any questions.

We had great time sharing our 100 items brought in on the 100th Day of School this week! Thanks for the goodies. I had a special orange drink to wash it all down! We read some books about 100 and thought up and wrote problems that equal to 100. The kids also turned the #100 into something else...The creations are in the hall. Come by and check them out!

Special Dates:

Jump Rope for Heart- Feb. 4th- Bring in your money and forms if you are contributing.

Cato Visit to Our School- Feb. 7th- Lesson: Georgia Habitats

Feb. 8th- Spring Picture Day and Class Pictures- Forms were sent home on Tuesday.

Feb. 8th- Ford's First Science Night from 6:00-8:00- Come find out about the Science Fair and rotate to interactive stations throughout the school.

Feb. 21-25- Winter Break!!!! No School!

Feb. 11th- Dentist Visit...for Dental Health Month

Feb. 11th- Valentine Dance at Ford from 6:30-8:00.

Feb. 14th- Valentine's Day.....Give your parents a hug!

Mar. 2- Six Hour Reading sheets due to class for Six Flag's Ticket

Mar. 3- Biography Reports and Desk Tops Due.....Information went home on Feb. 2.

Happy New Year and Welcome to 2011!!!!!

Here are a few updates and future projects coming soon!

We had a visit from Cato on Wednesday, Jan. 5th and they presented a skull study for the kids. Ask your child about it. It was very informative and interesting!

Report cards will go home tomorrow, Fri., Jan 7th. Please send back the envelope and signed signature card for the next grading period.

Media Center books need to be returned ASAP. There are still many out. Please help your child remember to bring the checked out books back the day we go to the media center. Our next media center date is Monday, Jan. 10th, but they can bring the books back anytime!

We have a guidance lesson on Jan. 13. Mystery Readers are now on Thursday because of Target being on Friday. Please reply to Mrs. Lundeberg's e-mail if you want to sign up or if you are signed up and Thursday will be o.k. for reading.

MLK Day is Jan. 17th. No school on this day.

Your child will be choosing an animal to research and do a report on next week. We will be doing the work at school, but your child can gather any information at home they would like to and bring it in.

A Cooking show assignment sheet will be given out on the Jan. 18th and will be due on the 27th of January. If you have any questions let me know!

100th Day of School is on January 25th. We will have a celebration in our classroom. Look of info on the 20th.

Early Release is Feb. 2 at 12:15.

Hammy the hamster died over the winter break. The Mauld Family offered to buy another one for our classroom. He joined our class on Tuesday...our first day back. The kids were very excited! We voted on a name for the hamster and came up with Theodore....nicknamed...Theo. We will continue to take the hamster home as usual.
